"Everything is still here"

Dispens

With a very little output in the past few years, post-covid Dispens looks back on an 80s-influenced remix for Isla Ola’s darkwave banger „Augen Körper Herz“ and a three-piece space opera called „Ghaxl Tzenpali“, released as a part of the Empire of the Four Moons sampler, dedicated to the overlooked sci-fi-epos by Enko Landmann. There’s still a hard drive full of electro- and breakbeat-rooted, club-oriented, unreleased tracks, yet getting back into the game with ambient and experimental music seemed more fitting – given the circumstance, that Dispens hosts a live-concert series for the beforementioned genres called SLOWROOM in his hometown Dortmund, Germany as well as giving more space to being a partially very introverted mind.

Being very homogenous in it’s sound, Everything is still Here was inspired by the ambient work of Emma Ruth Rundle and thus all the tracks feature electric guitar as a foundation. While „Sieben Hagen“, referring to a childhood place, is exceptionally sparse in it’s instrumentation and approach, the remaining three tracks feature multiple layers of modulated guitar, field recordings, synthesizers, breathing, voice, and partially even percussive instruments or a wink to Dispens' club roots with a 303 sound here and there. As the production process was very calm, intuitional and meditative, the tracks all serve as a baseline for a brief moment of contemplation and inner peace.

The EP was released together with it's accompanying "dark brother" Nothing is where we left it on a limited, quickly sold-out tape with risograph printed cover, stickers and download code.
